Last weekend, March 2nd - 4th, Jason Sheen and William Hurst from STIHL SHOP Albany competed in the Northland Logger sports competition at Dargaville.

The event runs alongside the Northland Field Days event and  showcases brands and exhibitors from all over Northland. 
The Logger Sports exhibit has been running since 1999 and has grown from a forestry and pole climb competition to focus more on logging and harvesting skills. 

Jason and William competed in several events throughout the weekend and put on an awesome show for the spectators. 

Jason and William both use  a STIHL MS 660 for the Woodsplit, Stock Saw and Wave Cut events, followed by a STIHL MS 880 for the Hot saw event.

STIHL is a sponsor of the Logger sport event and it's exciting to see the equipment we stock  being used as a sporting hobby by so many.  Have a look at the videos below




The Bar Fit
Reassemble a bar and chain on to a saw.
William Hurst Bar fit. Time: 9.63 seconds. 


The Speed Cut
Fastest to make three cuts through a log.
Jason Sheen Speed cut. Time:12.81 seconds.


The Wood Split
Cutting a log into 5 then splitting the logs cleanly.
William Hurst Wood Split. Time:26.20 seconds

As you can see the boys had a great day and came away with some pretty positive results. 
Congratulations to William who  took 3rd overall.
Also a big congratulations to Jason, William , Dave Beazely and Anthony Mildren came away with 3rd place in the teams division.

We're really looking forward to seeing how they go in other events throughout the year.
